Generosity Family Office.
Attending to the Every Need of Our Families
The Generosity Institute Family Office is a primary funding vehicle for our university-affiliated centers of excellence and their studies on giving excellence in specific fields. Sixty percent (60%) of professional team fees (not family assets) earned through the Generosity Family Office go to non-profit study and scholarship initiatives through these affiliated university and college initiatives.
What Is A Family Office?
A family office is a privately held enterprise that attends to the every financial and charitable need of a wealthy household through the use of trusted advisors in banking, tax, legal, and other matters. Select family offices also make travel arrangements, manage property and household staff, nurture family through education and career initiatives, oversee health and medical affairs, and orchestrate philanthropy and succession planning.
The ultimate objective of the family office is to preserve and grow wealth for a family or group of families, enabling them to leave an impactful legacy for succeeding generations.
Types of Family Office
There are four primary types of family office:
· Single-member family office
· Multi-member family office
· Corporate member family office
· Hybrid member family office
Our Generosity Institute Family Office is a hybrid member family office. We are a for-profit entity operated through our parent company, Cannon & Caius LLC, and we donate a majority of our fees to non-profit institutions. Our parent company pays for all taxes for the Family Office.
The History of Family Offices
The John D. Rockefeller family is credited with creating the first family office to manage their wealth in the late 1800s. Many of America’s wealthiest families followed suit in the decades after. As a result, family offices are highly effective tools for wealth and charitable management today.
How Do Family Offices Preserve & Generate Wealth
Family offices, on behalf of and in coordination with their clients, often invest in private equity and venture capital opportunities, commercial and personal real estate, participate in hedge funds, and public-private partnerships that meet their family’s risk and return objectives. The professional staff in these family offices are compensated based on a pre-approved fee schedule generated by their stewardship of the family office on behalf of the family or families.
